5th Grade Math

Welcome Eagles to 5th grade Math!

I am so excited that we are here together!  This year we will learn all about ordering & comparing numbers with decimals, multiplying & dividing numbers with decimals, add/subtract/multiply/divide fractions, simplify & expand numerical expressions, measuring the perimeter/area/volume of shapes, unit conversions, graphing and plotting points, number patterns, reading & representing data on graphs, budgeting money, income/taxes/payments, and so much more!

Students:
It is important to remember that we will do a lot of learning in the classroom, but continued practice at home is what can make a real difference.  Please set aside time to go over your lesson and classwork from each day with your family.  Have fun sharing what you've learned!

Practice your multiplication & division facts... like... A LOT!
Practice makes us better!

Parents:
It is okay for students to have a snack during class.  With that said, every privilege has its parameters.  Acceptable snacks are listed below:
*Goldfish
*Cheez It
*grapes
*apple slices
*baby carrots
All snacks should be carried inside snack sized Ziploc bags.  Candy and gum are NOT allowed.  Ideally, snacks should not leave residue on hands or materials.  Students will be expected to discard their trash in the designated trash bin and keep their desk neat and clean.

Your homeroom teacher will send home a folder every Friday (aka "the Friday Folder") that will contain school announcements, graded work, homework practice sheets, and other items that may need to be signed and returned.  Please carefully go through the Friday Folder each weekend and return it each Monday when your child returns to school.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.  In the meantime, let's make it another great year!

Sincerely,
Ms. Limar
