Residency Verification

The Texas Education Code authorizes schools to obtain evidence that a person is eligible to attend public schools. To be eligible for continued enrollment in the school, each student’s parent must show proof of residency at the time of enrollment.

Residency may be verified through observation, documentation and other means, to include but not limited to:

  1. If you live in a house: gas, water or electric bill in the name of the parent.  Bill must be dated within the last 30 days of registration.
  2. If you live in an apartment: Copy of lease showing parent as person leasing apartment and showing student as occupant, gas, water or electric bill in the name of the parent.  Bill must be dated within the last 30 days of registration.
  3. If you reside with another family member: Addressed affidavit (available at the school and on the website) and a current utility bill in the name of the person with whom you reside.  The form requires the signatures of all homeowners and the parent and MUST be notarized.

Falsification of residence on an enrollment form is a criminal offense.
